Catalysis and Nanotechnology Labs
The LabCAT@IST3M is devoted to the development and research of nanostrucured materials for catalysis purposes. The application fields are wide and could disfrut peculiar sinthetic pathways such as MVS and PE-CVD next to the more usual sinthetic methodologies that could be performed in our fully equipped chemical labs. Finally, the labs could disfrut also a HRTEM system (ZEISS LIBRA200FE) for the structural, morphological and chemical characterization. LabCAT works here in close collaboration with other ISTM research units, enhancing cross-contamination and multidisciplinary approches. Check out the IST3M labs!

- Metal Vapor Synthesis Reactor “ADCA01M” equipped with two evaporation sources (MVS)
- Plasma reactor for PE-CVD / CVC synthesis (Tethis-Plasma Solutions)
- ISTeM facility - Zeiss LIBRA 200FE analytical transmission electron microscope (TEM), equipped with: 200 kV FEG, in column secondgeneration omega filter for energy selective spectroscopy (EELS) and imaging (ESI), HAADF STEM facility, EDS probe for chemical analysis, integrated tomographic HW and SW system;
- ICP-OES (iCAP 6200 Duo upgrade, Thermofisher) - The ICP-OES - inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry - (Thermofisher iCAP 6200 Duo upgrade) allow a fast and reliable Multi-elemental analysis down to hundreds-tens of ppb
- The Evolution 600 UV-Vis Thermo Scientific system allow a rapid and high performance collection of UV-Vis spectra from solution. The Prying Mantis Harrick accessory allow the direct analysis of very small quantity of powder sample, thanks to the diffuse reflection (DR) mode.
- The Micro-FTIR NEXUS NIXOLET FT-IR is equipped with the Continuµm Microscope accessory for IR microanalysis. The instrument allows the collection of classical IR spectra from conventional samples and the collection of spatially resolved data, combining the high –performance of the IR sampling with the microscope unit.
