BIOGRAPHY
Filippo Bossola obtained in 2013 his Master Degree in Chemical Sciences at the University of Milan, Milan, Italy. In January 2017, he obtained the PhD in Chemical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Insubria, Como, Italy discussing a thesis entitled "Catalytic materials for biomass-derived secondary raw materials transformations" under the supervision of Prof. Sandro Recchia and Dr. Vladimiro dal Santo (ISTM-CNR). In March 2017, he joined the LabCat of the ISTM-CNR as postdoctoral fellow.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
The scientific interests of Filippo Bossola are the development and the study of nanostructured heterogeneous catalytic materials for the sustainable hydrogen production and biomass-derived compounds valorization. Specifically, his research activity is focused on (i) the development of monometallic (Ru) and bimetallic heterogeneous catalysts (Pt-Mn, Ni-Co) for the steam and aqueous phase reforming of model molecules of the bio-oil (acetic acid and glycerol); (ii) Study of the surface acidic properties of heterogeneous catalytic materials for the biomass valorization via FT-IR spectroscopy using probe molecules; (iii) Development of photo-catalytically active materials (titania and hematite) through sol-gel synthesis and Plasma Enhanced-Chemical Vapor Deposition (PE-CVD) technique for the abatement of pollutants and for the hydrogen production via photo-electrochemical water-splitting.
