BIOGRAPHY
Valeria Maria Pappalardo was born in Catania on October 26, 1980. She got the degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Pavia in July, 2009 arguing a thesis about the nanobiotechnological applications of microtubules under the supervision of Prof. Massimo Pregnolato. After the degree, she worked for three month at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology “L. Spallanzani” of University of Pavia under the supervision of Prof. Vittorio Bellotti and in December, 2009 she was researcher at the Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo of Pavia. In 2011, Valeria started to study Chemistry and in January, 2014 got the Ph.D. in Chemical Science at the University of Milan with a thesis focused on the synthesis of Glutamate-Ribonucleotide Hybrids and the preparation of Hydrolyzed Vegetable Proteins (HVPs) to study the Umami Taste under the supervision of Prof.ssa Giovanna Speranza. She currently works as post-doc at ISTM-CNR in Milan under the supervision of Dr.ssa Nicoletta Ravasio.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Valeria’s research activity is mainly focused on the modification and characterization of natural polysaccharides by using heterogeneous catalysts.
